A Circular Frank Lloyd Wright Lair For Sale in Arizona

This circular Frank Lloyd Wright residence for sale in Phoenix, Arizona is a villain's lair in the making.  One of only 15 circular homes (out of a career 1,000 buildings) designed by the visionary architect, this statement property – known as the 'Circular Sun House' –  is offered for sale by realtor Deanna Peters.

James Bond aficionados will likely be aware of an iconic villain's lair (of sorts) which was also circular and designed by Lloyd Wright's apprentice John Lautner.  That particular property, the monolithic Elrod House, played a starring role in Diamonds are Forever, with 007 (Sean Connery) fighting Ernst Blofeld's henchwomen Bambi and Thumper in both the cavernous living room and the outdoor swimming pool.  Bond was trying to establish the whereabouts of billionaire Willard Whyte who owned the property but was also being held captive there on the instructions of Blofeld.

During Whyte's captivity, Blofeld was stealing both Whyte's fortune and identity and thus as Whyte's possessions became Blofeld's possessions, Elrod House effectively became one of his lairs.

Hopefully such drama will not be visited upon the new owner of Circular Sun House however the property certainly has a lair-like aesthetic to it and it's easy to imagine it being used as a location or backdrop for a film or TV series.  Currently listed as a vacation rental on Airbnb, this house is a piece of architectural history which will continue to generate an income long in to the future or could equally be the perfect villain's lair or superhero hideout – depending on which side of good or evil the next owner falls!
